Supporting the Students Education Delivery Center

ERA UK partnered with Eritrea’s STEM education (SEDC) initiative to provide training, resources, and solar power solutions—empowering teachers, boosting student engagement, and strengthening the country’s long-term capacity in science and technology.

Overview

Launched in 2019 under the Ministry of Education, the Students Education Delivery Center (SEDC) is a nationwide initiative aimed at introducing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education across Eritrea. ERA UK was invited to support this effort by providing expertise, resources, and training.

Challenges

There was an urgent need to integrate modern technology education into the national curriculum, but the country faced limited resources, outdated materials, and a shortage of adequately trained educators capable of delivering effective STEM instruction.

Solution Provided

ERA UK partnered with SEDC to offer strategic guidance and supply essential STEM materials, including textbooks, digital tools, and hands-on learning resources. Teachers received targeted counseling and support to build confidence in delivering STEM content, while capacity-building programs led by technical advisor Yosief Andemichael trained representatives from all six sub-regions. Additionally, the introduction of solar energy through panel installations ensured a reliable and sustainable power supply for uninterrupted learning.
